Positive Intelligence
and your PQ

You can handle life’s challenges without the stress

Do you know your PQ?

Your Positive Intelligence Quotient is a measure of your mental fitness and readiness to handle life’s challenges. It’s often a good predictor of happiness and how well you can perform to your highest potential.

As a Certified Positive Intelligence Coach, I can help you boost your productivity, happiness, and handle life or business obstacles with increased success, without the added stress and worry.

Are you self sabotaging your potential?

Do you hear a voice in your head? That voice may be saying things like:

  • “This isn’t a good idea.”
  • “There’s no way you can live up to these expectations.”
  • “This is not worth the expense/effort.”
  • “You are going to fail.”

These are your inner Sabateours talking! They are the voices that cause you doubt, anxiety, frustration, and unhappiness.

Meet your Saboteurs:

Restless

Restless, constantly in search of greater excitement in the next activity or constant busyness.

Stickler

Perfectionism and a need for order and organization taken too far

Hyper-Rational

Intense and exclusive focus on the rational processing of everything, including relationships.

Controller

Anxiety-based need to take charge and control situations and people's actions to one's own will.

Pleaser

Indirectly tries to gain acceptance and affection by helping, pleasing, rescuing or flattering others.

Hyper-Vigilant

Continuous intense anxiety about dangers and what could go wrong

Victim

Persistent and extreme focus on internal feelings, particularly painful ones

Avoider

Loses self in comforting routines and habits. Procrastinates on unpleasant tasks

Hyper-Achiever

Dependent on constant performance and achievement for self-respect and self-validation

Judge

Finds fault with self, others, and circumstances. Causes much of our disappointment, anger, regret, guilt, shame and anxiety. Activates accomplice Saboteur.

Turning negative into positive emotions

Your “Sage” lives in a different part of your head and is responsible for handling challenges through positive emotions like curiosity, creativity, calm, serenity, and positive action.

When you are more conscious of your Saboteurs, you can train your Sage to step in and influence you in a louder voice, with things like:

  • “This is a fantastic idea to try.”
  • “You can totally live up to these expectations.”
  • “This was an excellent choice to invest in.”
  • “You are going to succeed and be happier for it.”

Measuring Mental Fitness

Mental fitness is a measure of the strength of your positive mental muscles (Sage) versus the negative
(Saboteur).  This measure of your Mental Fitness is called PQ (Positive Intelligence Quotient).

Research with 500,000 participants has shown PQ to be the best predictor of how happy you are and
how well you perform relative to your potential.

Research Foundation

This work is a synthesis of the latest breakthroughs in neuroscience, cognitive and positive psychology, and performance science.

The research is the basis of Shirzad Chamine’s New York Times bestselling book Positive Intelligence, and Stanford lectures.

How You Self Sabotage

A key to Mental Fitness is to weaken the internal Saboteurs who generate all your “negativity” in the
way they respond to challenges. Your Saboteurs cause all your stress, anxiety, self-doubt, frustration,
regret, shame, guilt, and unhappiness. Saboteurs include the Judge, Controller, Avoider, Victim, Stickler and 5 others.

Your “Sage” lives in an entirely different region of your brain and handles challenges in ways that
produce positive emotions like curiosity, empathy, creativity, calm, and clear-headed laser-focused
action. You’d perform better and feel happier.

Breakthrough Results of Boosting PQ

Relationships: You improve relationships, able to handle conflicts in ways that deepen trust and
harmony.
